What better way to start the summer holidays than at the theatre?! Each year, young people aged between 8 and 18 are invited to join us in a week-long theatre school. Whether they're current KRYPT members or new faces, our Summer Company have a blast working together. Through games, improvisation, devising and scripted work, we collaborate to create a body of work which we share with families at the end of the week. Expect excitement, creativity and just a touch of madness as we enjoy the week together.
KRYPTfest 2024: The Drama of Dahl!
Applications are now open for our 2024 Summer School. Join us for a week of theatrical fun as we dive into the wondrous world of beloved children's author, Roald Dahl! Our 2024 Summer Company will spend their workshops exploringe the colourful characters and whimsical worlds that Dahl dreampt up. We'll use the original texts, existing scripts and our own imaginations to bring favourites such as Matilda, The Witches, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to life. And, for our older members, there'll be an exciting opportunity to engage with Dahl's less well-known texts for adults, which can be deliciously dark! In classic KRYPTfest fashion, we'll work throughout the week on a range of scenes and skits which we'll share in an exciting showcase with family on the Friday at 5pm.
The details:
Where? The Rose Theatre, Kidderminster
When? 22nd-26th July 2024. Sessions run from 10am - 4pm, with a later finish on the Friday as we share our week's work with you.
How much? KRYPTfest costs £150 for the week, which works out at less than £5 per hour. Bargain!
Who's invited? KRYPTfest is open to current KRYPT members and new faces. The only requirements are that Summer Company Members are aged between 8-18 and have a passion for drama!

Key Information:
- KRYPTfest sessions are delivered by qualified professionals, with occasional guests invited to deliver workshops. A first aider is always present.
- Usual operating hours are 10-4 each day.
- We welcome new performers to join our Summer Company. This is separate from the waiting lists for KRYPT's term time companies. We try to offer all siblings places if applying together.
- Performers aged 8-18 are welcome to apply.
- Our Summer Company is limited to 20 members. We strive to charge a fair price each year, and offer a limited number of means-tested bursary places where possible.
- Applications open around Easter time. To secure a space, simply fill in the application form to provide yours and your child's details. A £50 deposit is necessary to secure a space and we will ask for this a little further on in the application process.
- We invite friends and family to join us on the Friday afternoon as we share the work we've created. This is usually at around 5pm and lasts about an hour, with no additional charge for tickets.
