Dear Members (and Friends)
If you have changed any of your address, telephone or internet details please make sure that the office has been told so that we can keep our records of your information correct and up to date.
AGM
We have attached to this newsletter the information for the AGM that will be held on Sunday 4th October 2009. Please make an effort to attend so that you can hear what we have been doing on your behalf.
With the letter giving notice of the AGM you will find a nomination form. ALL members of your committee need to be elected to serve another year. We have some vacancies caused by persons reaching the end of their permitted four year period in one post. We are anticipating that some persons may not stand again. If we know a person who is prepared to be nominated we have shown this by the word “Volunteer”.

The Foyer
When Les said that the boiler needed replacement few of us realised the true implications of that simple task. What has happened over the last 6 weeks is a miracle!
It is a miracle that it is nearing completion, and a miracle in the effect that the changes have had on those patrons who have seen it.
So many many thanks are due to Keith for leading the team of volunteers in the mammoth task of giving the foyer a major face lift. The team included David, Derek, Mike, Tony, Brian, Murray, Kath, Helen, and Steve. All members owe a big round of applause for their efforts and dedication to our theatre.
The work is not finished, the new carpet is on order, but will not be fitted till early October (we just ran out of time to get it in before Witness). Also there will be some tidying up and completion of some loose ends over the next few weeks.
During the rebuild of the foyer the same small team have been building the set for the first play. I hope that all recognise the additional load that the set has placed on our dedicated team, and will heartily thank them for giving of their time and energy so freely.
Play Reading Maskerade
There will be a play reading of Maskerade on Tuesday 6th October at 7:30pm.
Any person interested in acting or working backstage on this play please attend this reading so that the cast and crew can be chosen.
If you are interested but cannot attend the play reading please email Do do@doevans.plus.com or leave a message in the office.
Witness For The Prosecution
Thanks to a new member from the Open Day, Do has at last got a full cast. There have been all of the usual problems of the first play of the season with the rehearsal spanning the summer holidays.
All is now looking good with another excellent set. I hope that you all have your tickets booked, the play and your fellow members deserve your active support.
Open Day
Thank you to the members that came and helped with the Open Day. Once again it was a success. I have not seen the final figures but in excess of 60 people attended We had approximately 20 application forms completed, some who want to act and some that just want to help.
Volunteering FOH & Bar
If you have not filled in and returned your volunteering form please let the office have it as soon as possible. Kath and Kieran would like to hear from anybody who is willing to help, and I know from long experience that people sending in their forms save a lot of time in making phone calls.
Bar
We are in the process of changing to a different supplier of drinks for the bar. You will notice little change except in the wines which were specific to our previous supplier. A major reason for the change is to try to control the price rises that have been brought about by the changes to tax and value of the pound.
Please rest assured that the price rises will be kept to the absolute minimum necessary to keep the bar economical.
Web Site
We are looking at how to update and modernise our web site. Jenny Eglinton and Bob Graham are looking at what are current trends in presentation of information, and as I have time I am putting some of the ideas into a development area of our site.
If you are interested in helping either by looking, testing and commenting or by getting involved with the programming then please get in touch.
You can see the current state by following this link (please note that this is not the complete site so not all links will work)

Future Developments
We are considering how and where our theatre will be developed in the future. To hear the first information about this you will need to attend the AGM.
We will keep you informed and give opportunities to have your say, and when ready the proposals will be placed before a meeting of members for ratification.
New Members
We have a lot of new members that have applied during the open day or over the summer. We will be holding a new members meeting (provisionally the 8th October).
The reason for the meeting is to talk to all of you in a relaxed atmosphere where we can give you information about the theatre and where you have the opportunity to ask questions. This meeting is important and you will receive a personal invite in the next week or so.
During the meeting we will identify your areas of interest that we can bring into use most quickly, and where training or experience is appropriate we will start to make the arrangements.
If you cannot attend on that night please let the office know and we will arrange another date.
Subs
Please remember that you cannot vote at the AGM unless you have paid your annual subs.
Annual Subs Are: Full Member: £35 (reduced subs) £20 Partners: £60
Associate: £ 5
Friends: Free
To qualify for the reduced subs you must be a student, unemployed or over 60.
