Set Design and Construction

Most productions require a set (scenery) of some description and this requires designing, construction and painting. So, for anyone who has any interest in design, "working with their hands", DIY or painting, there is plenty of opportunity to help with productions on a regular basis.  This often appeals particularly to members who do not want to act in plays.  Even for those who think they have very little practical skills, we can still use your help - you would be surprised how some quite "rough" work looks very good on stage!  Some of the larger sets require considerable work and present most enjoyable challenges from a design and construction perspective.  We have a well equipped workshop at the rear of the stage where much of the work takes place.   Any help is most welcome.

Properties

Every production requires items for the actors to work with (known as "Props") together with furniture and all these need to be found by begging, borrowing, hiring and sometimes construction.  Some of the solutions can be quite intriguing and, again, anyone who is good at making things or enjoys searching round second hand/antique shops will enjoy this aspect of the work.
