Acting with the Nonentities At The Rose
Last Update 03-Jul-2008
Either for established actors or beginners, membership of the Nonentities Society provides excellent rewards.
We present a regular season of some 10 plays in the main auditorium or studio of our own Rose Theatre. We are renowned as the premier dramatic society in the area and are members of the Little Theatre Guild. Therefore we are always on the look out for talent to help us strengthen our well-established reputation.
Prospective new members will be interested in our unusual casting method, as it does not rely on auditions for individual parts. After an interview, new acting members are invited to prepare an audition, which is then presented before the Artistic Director and a group of senior Directors. This interview, and possible participation in a rehearsed play reading, demonstrates something of the new member's range and ability. Directors meet to cast the season from all available members in two sections, and the cast list is published at the start of each half. We believe that our method ensures that all plays in the season receive as strong a cast as the Society can manage, and assures individual members that fair play, not reputation or favouritism, govern the casting.
We hope that you too will want to come and act with The Nonentities. You will be made very welcome! Please contact the Membership Secretary at The Rose Theatre.
