A revival of the old Emlyn Williams creepie, Night Must Fall - Martin Murphy
as Dan - was followed by a major production, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie,
with Doreen Evans as the Scottish teacher whose girls were "La creme de
la creme". Another big one for Christmas, Uncle Vane, with Hugh Meredith
in the name part and Colin Young as Astrov, the doctor.
Joe Orton's macabre comedy Loot (the body is in the parcel), then a
famous farce revived by the National Theatre, Feydeau's A Flea in her Ear,
and finally crowds and music for that unusual entertainment Oh, What a
Lovely War! It had been a hardworking season.
