69/70

The first of a series of Alan Ayckbourn plays, Relatively Speaking, opened the second year, then Wait Until Dark, a thriller with Pamela Meredith as the blind girl thwarting the crooks, and Anouilh's The Waltz of the Toreadors, with the late Len Reeves as the old general.

Henry IV Part I was the first Shakespeare on the new stage, with a powerful cast including Colin Young as Prince Hal, John Hunter as the King, Harry Purcell as Falstaff, Graham Orr as Hotspur, Arnold Pitt as Glendower and a Playhouse veteran, John Pell, as Northumberland.  Spring and Port Wine, not everyone's idea of a comedy, ended the season.
