80 years after the signing of the Armistice of the First World War this play shows a moving encounter between Siegfried Sassoon and Wilfred Owen. |
By 1917, although Siegfried was a war hero and an aristocrat, he was anxious to expose every sham ideal, which had been used to justify the war. Owen, recovering from the effects of shell-shock, was desperately looking for a hero who was not immune to the pity and horror of war. Their discourse powerfully and movingly strikes home to our own contemporary situations and emotions as did their poetry. |
