Frances was the dutiful wife of Martin. Madeleine was Martin’s not-so- dutiful mistress. Martin is now in the U.S.A with a younger woman and the two feuding women meet face to face to discuss their relationship with the elusive man. Pretending to be writing a memoir, Frances wants to know what happened between her husband and his lover. Madeleine refuses and only tells her what she needs to hear. Together they explore the past and realise that they are beginning to feel the breath of life again.

The Dames Judie Dench and Maggie Smith performed in the original 2002 production of this fascinating play - a mix of tension, quick wit and raw humour by one of today’s finest playwrights..
