HMS Pinafore was the first opera by Gilbert and Sullivan to achieve world-wide fame and success and it remains as popular as ever. Enjoy the pompous Sir Joseph Porter, a middle-ranking politician in charge of the world’s most powerful navy; sympathise with Captain Corcoran, who wants his daughter to marry a man she cannot respect “What, never? No, never! What, never? Well, hardly ever!” Sigh with Ralph and Josephine , whose love seems doomed by their social inequality. And laugh with surprise when Little Buttercup’s last-minute revelation solves all problems. Enjoy the show!
