Scream
by
Swan Playwrights
16th October 2004
Description
Three short plays by local writers dealing with different situations that make us want to open our mouths and let rip with a howl of anguish or anger or amusement, directed by Kim Greengrass and performed by three professional actors in a script-in-hand presentation.
Possible starting points for the Playwrights’ work:
Edward Munch produced a famous painting called The Scream.
Scream is a clever post-modern horror film.
“It’s a scream” is a common way of expressing “What a hoot!” or “Great fun!”
If something makes you scream that could be because it is immensely irritating.
Screaming is most often connected with terror, but it could also indicate hysteria or
frenzied adulation such as that experienced by young girls at a Busted concert.
Thrill to the Playwrights’ varied interpretations of the Scream! theme and learn about the page to stage experience in an after-show talk-back.
