Double Trouble

From 1st November 2004
To 6th November 2004

Description

Swan Playwrights and The Nonentities join together for their first pro-am production.

A double bill of comic plays about mishaps and problems, directed by professional actor Robert Swinton.
The two plays were chosen for performance after a local competition run by Swan Playwrights, now towards their second year of residence at “The Rose.”

Shagathon by Nicholas Corder

Yes, Kidderminster audiences prepare for something a little different: a play about a competition that tests participants’ sexual prowess, but also an analysis of the star system, celebrity culture and the pressures on maintaining one’s status and stamina in a light farce-based comedy full of innuendo that will amuse rather than offend. Believe it or not, an innocent treat. Are you ready to meet Plunger Pearson as he tries to live up to the memory of Dangler Douglas?

Crisis Management by Martin Drury

It’s hard work running a successful sausage factory! Bill Bangor has to do something about the size of his chipolata, even though wife Isobel has a taste for something more exotic. Secretary Penny would like to do more with his saveloy while his daughter, Fern, isn’t into meat at all – not the sort Willy Wiener’s Wurst deals in anyway. Is it any wonder he retreats mentally into the past? (Not that ‘Andful Audrey and the sex-mad Sister Augusta offer much escape ...) A dark comedy about a mid-life crisis.
