Description
Well, Christmas is a time for festivities, but we also know that it can be one of the most trying times of the year! For these three families, it certainly proves to be the latter. The ‘up and coming’ Hopcrofts, in their neat little starter home, are desperate to impress; the Jackson’s marriage is strained to the limit, and the Brewster-Wright’ social position is severely challenged. This is Ayckbourn at his best, with the three couples all trying to outdo each other and get through the festive season intact.
Set in different kitchens, this play poses a challenge for actors and technicians alike. Get ready to laugh and squirm at Ayckbourn’s colourful characters, and enjoy seeing how they cope through three successive chaotic Christmases!
Running like a darker thread through the wild comedy of behind- the – scenes disasters at Christmas parties is the story of the advance of the Hopcrofts to material prosperity and independence, and the decline of the others.
