The Business of Murder

by Richard Harris

From 10th May 2004
To 15th May 2004

Description

This psychological thriller on the theme of revenge centres on the interlocking triangular relationship between three people. At first they are unaware of the connections that bind them together, but as the play progresses they realise how very much each are concerned with each other and with the business of murder.

This atmospheric and intriguing play will keep you captivated to the final denouement. Richard Harris is the writer of Stepping Out (presented by KODS last September), Outside Edge and many thrillers, including Dead Guilty, presented by the Nonentities two years ago. The Business of Murder ran for 7 years in the West End, a record only broken by Agatha Christie.

Directors Notes

The Business of Murder was first presented at the Theatre Royal, Windsor in February 1981, and subsequently presented at the Duchess Theatre London in April 1981 where it ran for seven years until 1988.

There is little information to be found on the author Richard Harris except that he is "An English Playwright: Born London 1934 and lived for sometime in Nashville Tennessee, however he remains a very English Playwright, having written the very popular play about an amateur English cricket team, "Outside Edge" and the equally popular play about an amateur Tap Dancing Team "Stepping Out".

There does not seem to be a typical Richard Harris play. He writes Family Comedies, Thrillers, Farces with Leslie Darbon, and Musicals. Records show that his first play produced was "Partners" in 1969, and the most recent writing of his musical "Large as Life" in 2001.

The Nonentities cannot be said to have ignored the works of Richard Harris, having performed "Two and Two Make Sex" (written with Leslie Darbon), "Outside Edge" (twice), "Local Affairs", "Stepping Out", "The Maintenance Man", "Part Piece", "Dead Guilty" and now "The Business of Murder".
